How To Set Goals For Success

Are you having a hard time achieving your goals?

Perhaps you’re doing it wrong. The process in achieving goals is after all a tedious task.

You’re bound to make mistakes and encounter disappointments along the way.

No worries. It’s just a matter of doing it the right way.

So how do you do it?

1. Set the goals you want to achieve

Set goals that you care about – goals that you actually want to achieve. Don’t go after a goal just because you think you “should.”

Only set yourself a goal if it really matters to you because that’s only way you’ll actually follow through.

Of course I don’t have to remind you that you should set realistic, specific goals. Otherwise it will be hard, if not impossible, for you to achieve them.

2. Don’t set too many goals

Just as you need to only set the goals you want to achieve, it’s also important that you don’t take on too many goals.

There are only so many goals you can chase at once. Chances are, you’ll only end up making half-hearted effort at achieving your goals, only to give up on all of them.

What you need to do is simply take on a few ones so you can focus on them.

3. Have a visual reminder of your goals

It’s write down your goals, like a to-do list. It will help you commit to them and remember to work on them when you feel like giving up.

You can either write it down as a to-do list type or create a picture board depicting your goals.

Of course when you make a list of your goals, make sure to review them on a regular basis – preferably a couple times a week so you’ll be reminded often and be motivated to work on them.

Make sure to put your goals where you can easily see them.

4. Break your long-term goals into short-term goals

A long-term goal seems a little daunting to achieve. What’s more, it takes a lot of time and effort that it’s easy to be burnt out.

What you need to do is break down the large and long-term goals into small and short-term ones.

It will keep you motivated and celebrate small victories.

Depending on how far you drill down, your short-term goals would be an action plan for reaching your actual goals.
