6 Ways to Use Twitter to Promote Your Blog

1. Optimize your Twitter bio.

When writing your Twitter bio, make sure your identity and blog are pretty well established.

That means having a bio that tells people who you are and includes a link to your blog or landing page, if any.

Make it look straightforward so that people clearly understand who you are and what you do.

2. Tweet regularly.

Regular tweeting is a sign of an active and healthy Twitter profile.

So if you only tweet once a week, or once a month, you aren’t keeping up with your Twitter followers. You know what will happen eventually? Your followers might forget about you.

So make sure to tweet a couple times a day so that you are always in your followers’ minds.

Just be sure you are tweeting relevant or useful information, content your followers will read, click on, retweet and/or like.

3. Don’t be afraid to ask for some Twitter love.

Ask followers to retweet, mention or favorite your tweets — or to share content with a fresh tweet.

Don’t ever hesitate to do that. Remember, your goal is to gain followers so as so establish visibility on the site.

4. Retweet.

Don’t be afraid to retweet as this will help link you with and cement your own thought leadership within your niche.

Your followers would appreciate you showing them insights from other bloggers or authority sites, especially when it’s related to your current topic.

Just make sure that you’re always retweeting relevant and engaging content.

5. Track mentions and respond if appropriate.

It’s important to track mentions about you so you’ll know what’s being said about you.

If needed, be sure to respond in a polite, professional manner – whether the tweet has a positive or negative connotation.

You can also monitor key tweets that you deem are relevant to your blog or niche.

Set up Twitter searches for terms relevant to your niche and then monitor the conversations in that search and jump in to the conversations when appropriate.

6. Follow trends/hashtags.

Look at the trending topics and hashtags and find a way to make a relevant connection to your brand or blog.

By putting your top keywords and blog among the trending topics, your handle will be seen when people search tweets regarding that particular hashtag.

In addition, tagging our posts with one or two relevant and trending hashtags will help you reach new users. Just use hashtags sparingly – you don’t want to be accused of spamming.
