5 Mistakes to Avoid in Downline Duplication

Hyping your prospects to join

Sadly, this is one mistake most network marketers tend to do. Instead of providing truthful information, they hype the products and the company to get people join in their business. You’ll often hear these people say phrases like “get rich quick” or “the best money-making machine.” Let me tell you this: it’s NOT the way to build your network and make a sale.

Why? Since your prospects are hyped into joining your business, their expectations will be high and they will demand instant results upon signing up. And if their expectations are not met within their projected period, it is most likely that they will quit the business and move on to other opportunities promising fast results.

Sticking to traditional prospecting

While recruiting your warm market and proceeding to the cold market doesn’t sound like a bad idea, merely relying on this method will  delay your business’s success. Traditional prospecting will give you results alright. But it’s time consuming nature and the limited market it entails can slow you down.

Remember that there is another way to build your team and duplicate your downlines – internet marketing. Why settle for a single downline duplication method when you can use them both?

‘Kidnapping’ your prospects

How do you ask your prospects to listen to a business opportunity meeting? Do you tell them straight? Or you simply ‘kidnap’ them to attend? If you choose the latter, then you, my friend, are not really paying attention. Kidnapping your potential customers is another NO-NO in downline duplication.

What if your prospect is not really interested in the industry? How can you prep them into joining if they have no idea what’s in store for them? Often times, this type of recruiting leads to disastrous results. Keep in mind that misleading people is not the way to go. Not only are you wasting your time, you are also wasting theirs.

Shoving the business down people’s throats

If your prospect said “NO,” they mean it. Respect that. Don’t insist your business to your prospect just to get them to sign up. Doing this  technique will give you not just the cold shoulder, but they may even ignore you the next time you offer another business opportunity to them. What’s worse, they will bad mouth you to their network of friends and your common acquaintances. Now, there goes your reputation.

Not teaching your downlines the concept of leveraging

Do you expect to grow your MLM business on your own? Well, here’s the thing: you can’t. You need a team, period. A team that you need to lead, train and motivate. You need to shape your team into becoming leaders like you. You need to teach them how to prospect, recruit, sell and lead their own team.

Why is this crucial? Because a well-led and well-trained team produces maximum results, in turn, propelling your business to success. Now, who doesn’t want that?

These are just some of the mistakes that you need to avoid. You don’t want to start off on a wrong foot, would you? No? Then let me help you do the right thing to hit the mark in MLM!
