Easy Ways to Overcome Procrastination

1. Set goals

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again.

Setting goals is a sure-fire way of getting motivated and being productive.

Which means if you really want to accomplish big things, set goals. And don’t just think about them. Write them down. Put them into paper and make them as specific as possible.

When you write down specific, measurable goals, you will have something objective to work toward.

2. Break down your goals into small, doable chunks

When you have big goals, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and procrastinate moving toward the goal. So what you need to do is break down each of your big goals into miniature ones.

You don’t have to accomplish everything in one go. Don’t rush yourself.

You just need to take one small step toward your goal. That’s what you need to focus on for now.

3. Set deadlines for yourself

One effective way to beat procrastination is to set deadlines. That’s right.

When you’re working on a project or a goal, set a deadline for it. Of course, the deadline has to be realistic and attainable, but still enough to motivate you to finish your task.

Knowing you have a deadline will light a fire in you and help you get things done. And it will surely help you move toward your goals.

4. Minimize distractions

Distractions are everywhere. Who hasn’t been distracted when working?

Distraction can be stubborn, tempting you to pay attention to them. Will you give in?

No. When you really want to concentrate on something, unplug, focus, and get to work. Keep the distractions at bay or avoid them at all cost.

The last thing you need is a distraction when you have a self-imposed deadline to meet.

5. Automate tasks whenever possible

Relying on simply motivation to get you through your day isn’t a wise idea. Automating tasks is the key. The more you automate, the less opportunities you’ll have to procrastinate.

There are many automation software you can use that makes blogging a lot easier – from social media management tools to e-mail marketing software.

Don’t be afraid to use them to your advantage.

When you feel like procrastination is starting to take over, just keep these tips in mind so as to motivate you to be productive once again.
