Now that 2014 had gone, it’s best to welcome the new year by getting your blog organized.
Why is that, you ask?
This is because organizing your blog will help you create a continuing flow of fresh, relevant blog content in an effective manner.
What’s more, you need to ensure that both your previous blog posts and your future blog content will be seamlessly organized.
So how do you do that?
Here are some tips for you to follow to get organized for 2015.
1. Optimize your popular posts for future traffic
Popular posts are a great means to drive lots of traffic even if you’ve published them months ago.
Just because they’re older posts doesn’t mean you can no longer benefit from them anymore. You’ll just need to tweak them a little.
To find out what your popular posts are, check Google Analytics or whatever blog statistics you use.
Optimize your popular posts in such a way that will make them relevant even if they’ve been published a year ago.
Of course this means you need to find the posts that can be actually tweaked. Otherwise they’re of no use.
2. Get rid of irrelevant, outdated posts
If you’ve been blogging for years, chances are, you’ve accummulated hundreds of posts. Hundreds of posts that are a little hard to organize.
So if you really want to organize your blog for the new year, you have to practice the “in with the new, out with the old” adage.
Which means it’s about time to sift your archives for irrelevant, outdated posts.
These are the posts that even if you wanted to salvage can’t be saved at all. The only way to organize them is to get rid of them.
There’s no use keeping them if no one in this time needed to read them.
But if you refuse to delete them, you can always make them private.
3. Redirect broken links
If you’ve deleted a lot of blog posts and your visitors click on the link anywhere else in the Web, chances are, they’ll end up with the dreaded Error 404. And you don’t want that.
So what you need to do is use a plugin that lets you track broken links and 404 errors. Then you’ll be able to create redirects to organize your blog better.
It’s best that you organize the fixed links in a way that would benefit your blog, like linking them to your landing pages.
Whatever method you choose, make sure that the end result is getting all the errors fixed. Remember you can’t have an organized blog with too many errors.
