1. Remember your goals
What are the goals that you put in place? When you feel like you’re lacking direction or motivation, remember the goals you set.
Ask yourself: “Why am I doing what I’m doing?”
Doing so will remind you what needs to be done as well as it will boost your productivity. It will give you the determination you need to move forward and finish the task at hand.
2. Develop a habit
The thing about doing the same thing over and over again is it becomes a habit. Doing something by will may be hard, but when it’s a force of habit, it makes it easier to achieve the task at hand.
Start with small habits that help you be more productive and make you feel good. Instead of forcing yourself to create a habit that will take a lot of time, think baby steps. And then you can take it from there.
3. Make necessary changes
Sometimes all you need is a good change. If what you’re currently doing is causing you to lose motivation, then change is clearly needed.
There’s nothing like changing things to really get the juices going. You don’t want to change things just for the sake of changing, though.
What you need to do is change the things that you believe don’t work well for you.
4. Congratulate yourself for a “job well done”
Congratulate yourself after finishing a task. Celebrate every milestone you’ve managed to accomplish.
Give yourself a pat on the back for the good things you’ve done throughout the day, instead of focusing on the one or two things you haven’t been able to do.
Dwelling on what failed to accomplish will further prevent motivation from going through you. What you need to do is to remind yourself every evening of all the good stuff you got done.
This will keep you motivated enough to continue for the next day.
5. Push yourself to produce results
No pain, no gain. If you’re not doing anything, you won’t be producing the results you want.
That mindset alone can give you the motivation you need. Whenever you feel like giving up, just remember that the items in your to-do list won’t do themselves for you.
You may feel discomfort. But instead of shying away from it, embrace it.
There’s no way to expand your abilities without going outside your comfort zone.
